8-Day Bird Watching Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Quito
Arrive at Mariscal Sucre Airport in Tababela and transfer to Puembo Birding Garden or a similar high-quality lodge.
Day 2: Transfer to Ecuadorian Amazon at Sacha Lodge (Quito-El Coca flight)
Fly from Quito to Coca, then take a motorized canoe to Sacha Lodge. Afternoon birdwatching around the lodge.
Day 3: SACHA LODGE
Birdwatching from the tower, trails, and lagoon. Evening nocturnal birdwatching.
Day 4: SACHA LODGE
Canoe trip to Parrot Clay Lick, return through Napo River islands for more birdwatching. Afternoon canopy walkway exploration.
Day 5: SACHA LODGE / SAN ISIDRO
Morning birdwatching at Sacha Lodge, then travel to San Isidro. Late afternoon birdwatching around the lodge.
Day 6: SAN ISIDRO
Morning birdwatching, including Antpittas and Andean Cock-of-the-Rock lek visit. Afternoon exploration of nearby trails.
Day 7: SAN ISIDRO / GUANGO / PAPALLACTA HOT SPRINGS
Morning visit to the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock lek, then head to Guango Lodge for lunch and birdwatching. Continue to Papallacta hot springs.
Day 8: PAPALLACTA HOT SPRINGS / DEPARTURE
Morning at Papallacta hot springs, then transfer back to Quito for your return flight.
