Itinerary

At 08:00 AM we leave Quito and after driving south for 1 and a half hours on the Pan-American highway we reach the park entrance of Cotopaxi National Park. We drive through pine forest and soon reach the Visitors’ center of the park. We ascent in our 4-wheel drive vehicle until we reach the highest point of the tour, 4.600 meters/15.000 feet. The view from this point is stunning and on a clear day we are able to see 8 volcanoes.

After taking in the breathtaking views and capturing some memorable photos, we hop back into the car and begin our descent. While it’s possible to ride down on a bicycle, we don’t recommend it due to the slippery gravel and high risk of falls.

At the base of the volcano, we switch to our bikes and follow a single-track trail that winds through the stunning highlands. The view of the towering volcano, combined with the sight of wild horses roaming freely, is truly unforgettable. This remote part of the park is rarely visited, so the chances of encountering other people are minimal, adding to the sense of solitude and wonder.

Our journey leads us to a natural spring, where crystal-clear water flows directly from the earth’s depths. This water is so pure that we encourage our visitors to take a sip—it never disappoints! This serene spot is perfect for enjoying a box lunch before setting off on the final leg of our adventure.

With the wind at our backs, we glide through the highlands, savoring the incredible landscape and the freedom of the open trail. As the ride concludes, we return to the car, brimming with stories and unforgettable memories to share with friends and family back home.
