Day 1: Journey to the Heart of Cuyabeno Reserve
Embark on an exciting journey from Lago Agrio to the heart of the Cuyabeno Reserve, traveling along the Aguarico and Cuyabeno rivers, where you'll encounter vibrant wildlife and stunning landscapes. Upon arrival at the Amazon Lodge, enjoy a relaxing evening with a night walk to explore the nocturnal wonders of the rainforest.
Day 2: Bird Watching and Exploration of the Amazon's Hidden Wonders
Begin your day with an early morning canoe ride to witness the breathtaking sunrise and observe diverse bird species and mammals in their natural habitat. After a guided walk exploring medicinal plants, enjoy a serene afternoon navigating the Ceibo Lagoon and the San Francisco River, before venturing out for a nocturnal excursion to spot caimans and other nocturnal creatures.
Day 3: Parrot Watching, River Exploration, and Canopy Views
Start your day with a motorized canoe ride along the Cuyabeno River to observe vibrant parrots and parakeets feeding at the "saladero," followed by a visit to the confluence of two rivers to spot freshwater dolphins and enjoy the scenic beauty. In the afternoon, visit the Bird Observation Tower to take in panoramic views of the rainforest canopy, before concluding the day with a night walk to discover nocturnal wildlife.
Day 4: River Exploration and Terra Firme Trail
After an early breakfast, take a rowing canoe upstream to the San Francisco River, where you'll encounter unique wildlife not commonly found along larger rivers. Following a boat ride, enjoy a 3-hour Terra Firme trail hike with expert guides, before returning to the lodge to relax and review your "checklist" of species observed.
Day 5: Farewell to the Amazon
On the final day, enjoy an early bird-watching excursion to capture one last memory of the rainforest’s awakening. After breakfast, prepare for departure as we navigate the Cuyabeno and Aguarico Rivers, returning to Tierras Orientales for transfer back to Lago Agrio, arriving around 16:00 for your journey back to Quito
