Day 1: Quito – Coca – Napo River
Begin your Amazon adventure with a flight from Quito to Coca, followed by a scenic canoe ride to the luxurious Anakonda Amazon Cruise. After settling in, enjoy a rainforest introduction from expert guides, a delicious dinner, and an enchanting nighttime forest walk to discover the Amazon’s nocturnal wonders.
DAY 2: Pink Dolphins and the Ancestral Secoya Community
Explore the lower Napo River in the morning, spotting birds like eagles, oropendolas, and woodpeckers. In the afternoon, visit Yasuni National Park, a haven for biodiversity and the legendary pink dolphin, and learn about conservation efforts with the Martinica community. Conclude the day with the Secoya people, experiencing their ancestral culture by preparing traditional cassava bread.
Day 3: Kichwa Family Visit and Life Onboard
Start the day with a visit to a Kichwa family along the Napo River to learn about their way of life. Back on the Anakonda, join a cooking class, try handcrafting, relax in the hot tub, sip cocktails, stargaze from the Observation Deck, or explore the area by kayak for a more active experience.
Day 4: Forest Adventure and Canopy Observation Tower
Begin the day atop a giant kapok tree’s observation tower, taking in breathtaking 360° views of the Amazon canopy. In the afternoon, explore the primary forest to discover unique wildlife, including the peculiar hoatzin, or “stinkbird,” and learn about the rich biodiversity of this ecosystem.
Day 5: Indillama and Napo Rivers, Exploring Yasuni’s North Side
Start the day kayaking on the serene Indillama River, a tributary of the Napo, offering excellent wildlife-spotting opportunities on route to Yasuni National Park. After a day of exploration, relax under the stars on the observation deck, or join a night walk through the jungle to discover the Amazon’s nocturnal creatures.
Day 6: Pañacocha, the Mythical Piranha Lagoon
Journey to the Pañayacu River delta for a canoe trip to Pañacocha Lake, a blackwater ecosystem rich with aquatic life, including piranhas, pirarucu, and white caimans. Explore the surrounding rainforest, spotting primates and birds, followed by an Amazon-style barbecue at a community camp. Later, enjoy kayaking, swimming, and an informative talk about the region onboard the Anakonda.
Day 7: Parrot Clay Licks and Amazon Communities
Begin the day with a visit to the parrot clay licks, where colorful parrots and parakeets gather for essential minerals. In the afternoon, visit the Kichwa women’s community project to learn about their culture, support their initiatives by purchasing handicrafts, and participate in the Charapas Turtle Conservation program in collaboration with the community.
Day 8: Return
Conclude your adventure with a scenic journey back to Puerto Providencia, disembarking the Anakonda Amazon Cruise before taking a motorized canoe ride to the city of Coca.
